About Texas Woman’s University (TWU) Financial Aid
Texas Woman’s University (TWU) awards TWU financial aid worth over $10 million. TWU scholarships are annually based on merit-based, departmental, endowed, and need-based scholarships.
The TWU Pioneer Scholarship System is open and accepting new and current student applications for the spring and fall semesters. Through Apply Texas, TWU must apply to Texas Woman’s University (TWU).
Applicants must create a Pioneer Portal account on the TWU pioneer Scholarship system before applying to the TWU Online Scholarship Application System. Sign in using your pioneer portal login and password.
These Recommended Opportunities are located within the Pioneer Scholarship System, and each opportunity requires students to complete the application manually.
Applicants don’t need acceptance or admission to a program to be eligible to apply for scholarships. However, there will be no scholarship until acceptance.

The Texas government is organizing Texas Woman’s University scholarships to provide financial aid to women.
Eligible Nationality
You must be a female student and a permanent Texas resident to benefit from the TWU financial aid offered by TWU scholarships.
Scholarship Worth of the TWU Financial Aid
TWU scholarships Award for the First-Time-In-College Student Scholarship ranges from $1,200 to $3,000 annually. This may continue for up to four years and other TWU financial aid.
Note that you will get all award messages on your TWU email account. Acceptance of the TWU scholarship must be online—transmission of funds to your Financial Aid account. Scholarship awards are made in the fall and spring sessions only.
Eligibility for the Texas Woman’s University – TWU Financial Aid
To be eligible to apply for Texas Women’s University (TWU) Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria;
- Have all required admission applications and academic transcripts in the TWU Admissions Office or Graduate Admission Office by the application deadline.
- Enroll full-time (minimum of 12 hours for undergraduates; minimum 9 hours for graduate students and 6 hours for graduate assistants).
- Declare a major if you are an undergraduate student and have attempted at least 24 semester hours or a graduate student and have tried at least 12 semester hours.
Students may apply for an exception if:
The student is graduating the semester of the award, your degree program requires less than full-time enrollment (Example: clinical documents, student teaching, thesis, dissertation, or professional paper), or the scholarship description permits part-time enrollment.

How Can I Apply for TWU financial aid?
Applicants or students interested in TWU scholarships can apply to TWU through the Apply Texas application. 3 days interval is will be given for your application to be downloaded, and TWU to assign an ID no.
Create your Pioneer Portal Account, then visit the TWU Pioneer Scholarship System and apply for scholarships.
The online system identifies all scholarships for which each student is eligible to apply. Complete the general application and submit it to choose a scholarship.
Click on ‘’Opportunities’’ to review other Recommended Opportunities once the general application has been submitted at the left of the screen to see the available options.
TWU graduate scholarships must be manually applied in the system. Graduate student applicants are encouraged to apply for the New Graduate Student Scholarship before admission.
Click Apply next to the scholarships you are applying for and note the deadline. The TWU General Scholarship Committee is responsible for selecting new and continuing scholarship recipients.
TWU Scholarships will be discontinued any time a recipient withdraws from TWU, fails to meet academic progress requirements, or attends less than full-time each long term; only then can the TWU financial aid be denied.

First-Time-In-College Scholarships
Terry Foundation Scholarship
The Terry Foundation is a Houston-based organization established in 1986 by Houston philanthropists Howard and Nancy Terry to provide scholarships to outstanding Texas high school graduates and transfer students to public universities.
The first-time-in-college scholarship offers full tuition, fees, room and board on campus, books, and supplies.
This scholarship is renewable for four years/ While the transfer scholarship provides $13,000 annually and is renewable for up to three academic years or until graduation.
Recipients must live on campus as first-time-in-college students(at least the first year), maintain full-time enrollment, maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, file the FASFA application each year, write to the Terry Foundation a self-evaluation letter each year and attend all functions sponsored by the Terry Foundation.
Terry Scholarships are available to selected entering first-time-in-college and transfer students annually.
TWU Presidential Scholarship
The Presidential Scholarship is available to entering first-time-in-college students who are Valedictorian or Salutatorian of an accredited high school class.
This scholarship pays full tuition and mandatory fees, excluding room, board, and books, for up to four years. Recipients are selected from the scholarship applicant pool. Recipients must maintain a 3.25 GPA to continue the scholarship.
TWU Honors Scholarship
This scholarship provides $6,000 per academic year and is renewable for up to four years. Recipients are chosen from among the Honors Scholars Program applicant pool. (Visit the Honors Scholars Program page for more information
New Transfer Student Scholarship
Undergraduate students transferring to TWU from accredited community colleges or four-year universities with at least 13 semester credit hours may apply for this scholarship.
Generally, awards are at least $2,000 per year for up to three years or completion of the bachelor’s degree, whichever is shorter. This scholarship is awarded based on a cumulative grade point average and the number of semester credit hours transferred to TWU.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
Undergraduate students transferring to TWU for the fall semester who are active members of Phi Theta Kappa in good standing may apply for this scholarship.
Full-time enrollment and a 3.5 grade point average. This award is for up to two years or completion of the bachelor’s degree, whichever is shorter. Post-baccalaureate students are not eligible for this scholarship.
Other Scholarships for New and Returning Undergraduate Students
Mary Bryan and Tom C. Reitch Scholarship
For $1,500 per year, these scholarships are available to new entering undergraduate and graduate students and current TWU students who have completed at least 24 semester credit hours.
Awards are made based on a combination of academic achievement and financial need. Recipients must reapply each year to continue the scholarship.

Departmental Scholarships
Hundreds of endowed and donor-gifted scholarships are awarded each year. Most academic departments and alumni groups have scholarship funds available.
Furthermore, department awards are selected from applications made through the TWU online scholarship system before the March 15 deadline for the fall semester or November 15 for the spring semester. Awards are predominately made based on academic achievement and significance.
