Anambra state police command on Friday announced to the public that it has apprehended a 21-year-old Pastor that allegedly killed a 60-year-old native Doctor, after accusing him of tormenting him spiritually.
Speaking to the press in Anambra state, the police made it clear that grounded investigation has commenced to unmask the full circumstances behind the murder of the aged native Doctor by the suspected preacher. Torixus reports.
According to the statement released in the state capital, Akwa by the command’s Spokesperson, SP Haruna Mohammed, the 21-year-old suspect, is an indigene of Amagunze in Nkanu East LGA of Enugu State. While the 60-year-old Victim is an indigene of Umusiome Village, Nkpor near Onitsha.
He also told Torixus that the suspects, named Uchenna Chukwuma, who lives at Ugwuezue street, Umusiome Nkpor, allegedly committed the killing with a well bladed machete on 3rd day of September. Which he claimed when quizzed by police that he was sent by God to kill the native doctor.
Mohammed also stated that “The suspect further alleged that the victim was disturbing him spiritually and had not allowed him to progress financially”.
The Police Spokesman also said that the victim, Mr. Oliver Ugwu, was rushed to Iyi Enu hospital Ogidi for medical attention, after detectives attached to Ogidi police division arrived the scene.
He noted that the resident Medical practitioner confirmed the death of the man, and his corpse was deposited at the hospital mortuary, waiting for autopsy.
According to him, the machete used in perpetrating the crime was recovered as exhibit and the case transfered to the Criminal Investigation Department for investigation.
