President Muhammadu Buhari has been told to make use of the September 19, governorship election in Edo state as a template for his government’s electoral reform agenda., Labour party (LP) advise.
The council was given to the Nigerian President during a press’s briefing in Benin on Saturday by the Labour party National secretary, Julius Abure.
Abure told Buhari to make sure that the upcoming election poll in the state of Edo is fair, free and credible before every Nigerian, not just Edo.
“There can never be democracy if electoral processes are not free, fair and credible. The president will not lose anything if the governorship election is credible.
On behalf of the social democratic political party, Abure urge the President to make “use of the Edo governorship election as a basis for his government’s electoral reform agenda”, he said.
He also noted that all the processes of election in the country have been described as fraud and corrupt.
In the briefing, he said, “The president will write his name in gold if Edo governorship election is used to kick start the electoral reforms in the country,”.
The Edo state Governorship candidate under the umbrella of Labour party, Isaiah Osifo, charged all Edolites to use their voters cards wisely.
In his statement made available to Torixus, he also sent an appeal to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure a credible exercise.
