The minimum requirements for graduate school are as follows.

  • Students seeking admission to graduate school must have a high school diploma from a fully accredited US university or recognized foreign institution before the semester for which they are admitted.
  • An accredited US institution is an institution that is accredited by the relevant regional authority (Middle States, New England, North Central, North West, South or West Association of Colleges and Schools). A foreign institution is recognized by the Ministry of Education of that country or a similar agency as a post-secondary institution with an academic degree.
  • The graduate school requires an average grade of 2.75 for bachelor theses and 3.00 for all theses. Individual departments may need higher grades.
  • Submission of assessments for the oral, quantitative and analytical written parts of the final exam (GRE), unless the chosen program specifies otherwise. The graduate school has no minimum requirements for the GRE score. Individual programs can set certain score requirements and sometimes require the extended part of the GRE.
  • International applicants whose native language is not English must either submit a TOEFL assessment (Test for English as a Foreign Language) or an IELTS assessment (International English Language Testing System).
