The Auckland University Technology Master’s research scholarship is an opportunity for students who want to pursue a Master’s program. The scholarship is available for New Zealand citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.
The purpose of the Programmed is to provide an opportunity to study at any New Zealand university for graduate students who demonstrate leadership qualities or display high potential for future leadership in either public or private life.’

Auckland University of Technology is a university in New Zealand, formed on 1 January 2000 when a former technical college was granted university status.
Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is spread across three campuses in Auckland, New Zealand, and offers over 250 courses in subjects ranging from art and design to languages.

The Scholar will be expected to arrange for six-monthly Supervisor/s reports to be submitted to the Chairperson of the Fellowship Committee and to inform the Chairperson of any significant developments in his/her research.
Part-time jobs may be undertaken only with the permission of the Committee, as the scholarship is regarded as full-time.

Entrance Requirements:
Auckland University of Technology Master Research Scholarships are offered to outstanding students at any NZ university for study towards research in either a Masters’s or a Ph.D. degree in a wide range of disciplines, provided the research is in the broad fields of Humanities (i.e., the study of human culture, especially literature, languages, history, art, music, and philosophy) or Social Sciences (i.e., the scientific study of any aspect of social behavior and the functioning of society).
Candidates whose degree programmers do not appear to fit in these categories but who feel that their research qualifies them will be asked to justify this view in their applications.
Research proposals that are focused on contemporary issues and are forward-looking, with an interdisciplinary aspect, may be preferred.
- An applicant must be a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident of New Zealand.
- Students may apply in anticipation of, or during, their postgraduate study, but note there is only one application round per year.
- Applications are for research in the following year.
- The scholarships are normally regarded as full-time, so positions of emolument may be undertaken only with the permission of the Committee.
- Applicants must be of an age that they have not passed their 35th birthday by 1 October in the year of application.
- Applicants must intend to enroll or be enrolled in a degree with a research component of 90 points or more.
English Language Requirements:
Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.
How To Apply For The Auckland University of Technology Master Research Scholarships
Applications close on 1 October. The application will include the following:
- Verified copies of transcripts of the applicant’s academic record (NB: Some universities provide transcripts via My Equals. These are already verified.)
- a statement of the proposed program of research with an outline of the methods of investigation. It is proposed to adopt
- an outline of past and current leadership activities
- a CV (no longer than three A4 sides)
- The names of two referees. (Applicants must ask their referees to email confidential references to Ms. Collins by 1st October.)
- After consideration of the submissions, the selection committee will invite shortlisted candidates to attend an interview in Wellington on 26 November, the costs of which will be covered by the Scholarship Fund.
- The interview will include a ten-minute presentation by the candidate. Those shortlisted for the interview will also be asked to provide a budget for proposed research expenses for the following year.
- Candidates will be notified of the results of their applications soon after the interviews.
