New Century Scholarships 

The New Century University is currently inviting applicants for the new century Scholarship Program. Eligible candidates must be currently enrolled at a new century university for a new century scholarship 2024. Only United States citizen or permanent resident is welcome to apply.

About New Century Scholarships 

New century scholarship is a scholarship in the United States of America for Utah University students. This new century scholarship program is extremely unique on its own, unlike many other scholarships. 

Its application process is rigorous and every applicant is advised to exercise extreme patience and follow the due process because any mistake or skipping of any process would disqualify one from being eligible for this prestigious award.

This scholarship has existed since 1991, and its Genuity has been proven.

Annually, New century university offers scholarships to qualified Utah University students who meet the required criteria and have never failed to give accolades to the deserving students.

The New Century Scholarship program as emphasized earlier was created in 1999 as a Governor’s initiative to encourage and show students the easiest way to speed up their existing education by earning an associate degree in high school.

New century scholarship is apparently excellence dependent, where students are expected to show a certain level of academic achievement before thinking of applying for this scholarship.

In 2006, the option to complete a specified Math and Science-related curriculum were added for those pursuing a degree in a science, engineering, or math-related field. This was done to ascertain if the student was actually ready for the course ahead.

Students who are majoring in liberal arts are not among those that would be tested with science courses or a related subject. This curriculum in the quote is only meant for science students engineering majors, and other related fields.

New Century Scholarship did not specify any listed field and level of study.

Host Nationality

This century scholarship has all the traits of scholarships in the United States of America.

Eligible Nationality

The New Century scholarship is limited to nationality. It is for every student who is in the United States of America and they are eligible to apply for a college education in a four-year accredited institution.

Or already enrolled in an accredited institution can apply for this scholarship, his or her field notwithstanding, considering that he or she is not a high school student.

But high school graduating students are also eligible to apply only if they will enter the college in the next enrollment year.

Applicants are required to be United States citizens or non-citizens eligible for federal student aid.

It’s not just enough to be a United States citizen. The providers of the scholarship require their applicants to be United States citizens without a criminal record.

This infers that a United States citizen who has a criminal record has lost his or her eligibility to apply for this scholarship, and he or she is advised not to apply because it will thoroughly screen applicants.

What is the worth of New Century Scholarship?

The New Century scholarship 2024 award is seen to be a flat dollar amount; the maximum amount set by this platform to give its winners is $1,250 per semester.

This new century scholarship is renewable for about 60 credits, four semesters, or completion of a bachelor’s degree (whichever occurs first). Evidently a two-year award.

Award amounts are set to be announced each April for the upcoming academic year on their official website.

Students are paid based annually and are subject to legislative funding and the total number of qualified participants, the more the participants, the less the amount.

Thus, award amounts may be reduced, may vary from year to year, and depend on when the recipient is going to college.

Who is Eligible to apply for New Century Scholarship?

To be in contention for the new century scholarship program, aspirants must meet the following non-academic and academic requirements:

NON-ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

  • The applicant must be a United States citizen or a non-citizen eligible for federal student aid.
  • He or she must have no criminal record, except for a misdemeanor traffic citation as stated by the provider.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Student graduate from a Utah high school with a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average is welcomed.
  • Applicants are expected to earn a 3.0 cumulative college grade point average.
  • Students “applicants” who are Home-schooled students and students who complete high school through an online school must take the ACT exam by June 15 of the year their peer group graduates from high school and earn a minimum composite score of 26, very important.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in and successfully complete 15 credit hours the Fall Semester after high school graduation at an eligible college or university, which is of extreme importance, and maintaining a 3.3 semester GPA or obtain an approved deferment.
  • High school graduation also expected applicants to complete one of the following academic options,

OPTION 1: ASSOCIATE DEGREE TRACK

Applicants are expected to complete an associate degree through Dixie state, city University, Southern Utah University, Salt Lake Community College, Snow College, University of Utah (equivalence), Utah State-affiliated University, Utah Valley University, or Weber State, University.

If an applicant plan to apply for the New Century Scholarship by completing the associate degree track, it is of great importance that he/she works closely with the college/university from which they are earning the associate degree to plan out the required course work.

You as an applicant are required to file for graduation in order to have the associate degree posted to your official college transcript.

The qualified applicant will be required to provide an official copy of their transcripts to show that they have earned the associate degree.

Applicants who qualify for an associate degree equivalence from the University of Utah in the vein must document it by completing the Associate Degree Equivalent Verification form.

OPTION 2: MATH AND SCIENCE CURRICULUM TRACK

Students who have plans to major in engineering, math, or science may want to choose to earn the New Century Scholarship would do that by completing the Math and Science Curriculum Track.

Applicants are required to complete these requirements from a college within the Utah System of Higher Education (University of Utah, Utah State University, Weber State University, Southern Utah University, Snow College, Dixie State University, Utah Valley University or Salt Lake Community College). Note, not all courses are offered at all institutions.

How to Apply for Century Scholarship?

The process of application starts with the creation of an account using the New Century Scholarship Portal. The student will complete an application housed within their account, after its creation.

Applicants will receive a notice regarding their account status via the Message Center in their student portal no later than April 15, 2024, i.e 3 months after the deadline.

On-track students would be provided with additional instructions regarding the verification documentation that is due September 3.

Applied students are notified of the outcome of the final review via the Message Center in their New Century Scholarship account.

A student who is qualified, payments will be processed accordingly.

When is the Submission Deadline?

All the applicants who are going to apply for this scholarship or who are already in the process of applying for this scholarship are expected to apply on or before February 1. No application would be considered after the said date.
