DAAD-AIMS Scholarships for African Students | Updated

DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service, in association with AIMS, provides six in-region scholarships for a PhD program in Mathematical Sciences. These scholarships are available to students wishing to commence a PhD program at a South African University.

As part of the/In-Region Scholarship Programme” DAAD offers scholarships for
PhD studies. The programme is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and aims at university staff in the first line, without neglecting the public sector demand of academically trained personnel.

The target group for scholarships is postgraduates from Sub-Saharan Africa (excluding South Africa) with a Master’s degree who want to pursue PhD courses in South Africa (In-Region scholarships).

It has been agreed upon that DAAD cooperates with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) by offering up to six In-Region Scholarships for PhD studies at AIMS for the intake of 2024.

The DAAD supports over 100,000 German and international students under researchers around the globe each year – making it the world’s largest funding organization of its kind.

We also promote internationalization efforts at German universities, help developing countries build their own higher education systems, and support German Studies and German language programs abroad. Our Artists-in-Berlin Program is one of the most renowned international scholarship programs for artists.
