Virginia Tech Undergraduate Admissions
Virginia Tech moved to a new application platform: The Coalition for Access, Affordability, and Success, this year. This application applies to all international, domestic, and transfer degree-seeking undergraduates.
This is a third-party application accepted by hundreds of colleges around the country. You can start building your profile anytime, and this profile will help you streamline the application process later.
If you’re applying to a school that accepts the Coalition application, you can use the profile information to submit much of your data without entering it again.
While application season doesn’t start until Fall 2019, your profile is open year-round and allows you to input new achievements and update your information as needed.

Self-Reported Academic Record
If Virginia Tech is the only school you’re applying to, there are several parts of the Coalition application you can skip:
- The coursework
- College Coursework
- SAT/ACT/Subject/Additional Tests
- Essays
- Academic Interests.
Instead of the Coalition coursework, Virginia Tech will be accepting a self-reported academic record. This reporting system will be available when the application opens. Still, you do not need to worry about filling in the coursework in the Coalition profile if Virginia Tech is the only school you’re considering.
Virginia Tech will also require short-answer essay responses on the 2024-2024 application. These will help students tell their stories and allow their life experiences to enrich their application.
Letters of Recommendation – Virginia Tech does not review Letters of Recommendation; therefore, you should not include these.
What are the SAT requirements for students to be admitted to Virginia Tech?

Awards won’t be given out until nearly the time your study abroad program begins, so be aware that you’ll need to pay for fees, deposits, and plane tickets out of pocket.
The award amount (for the period you’re travelling abroad) will be deducted from your tuition bill if you are informed that your award is a waiver.
The tuition waiver will be granted as a refund to your student account if your tuition bill arrives before the scholarship is paid out. In this case, you must pay the tuition bill first.
The credit card would be credited if one were to be used. These procedures often take a month.
If you are informed that you have earned a scholarship, it will be given to your student account.
Initial out-of-pocket costs
Before departure, program fees are usually due to cover the upfront expenses that instructors must incur. We strongly advise contacting the Financial Assistance Office if you need alternate means of paying your upfront expenses. They can advise you on parent-plus, private educational, and bridge loans.
