Corruption is the greatest killer of any nation’s economy. The government of Nigeria has seen the impact of this disease and have presented a solution. This solution is the EFCC which has a recruitment process aimed at excellent and smart individuals.
Nigeria gained its independence in 1960 but it doesn’t mean its citizens gained independence from poverty. Research has pitched Nigeria as one of the top thirty corrupt nations in the world. Interestingly, this is an improvement since introducing the EFCC.
In this article, you will learn about the EFCC, their recruitment process, structure, etc.
What is EFCC?
EFCC is the acronym for “Economic and Financial Crimes Commission”. Notably, the name of the commission tells a little about their work description.
Former President Obasanjo established the commission in 2003 similar to ICPC. Essentially, the Government created them to stop individuals in political offices from stealing public funds.
Of a truth, the commission has not found its duty easy they have still lived up to expectation.
The history of the commission tells us that several high-profile individuals have been prosecuted and convicted.
To be precise, EFCC has caught political juggernauts like Alamieyeseigha and Dasuki under their web.
Therefore, the leadership of the EFCC has remained committed to the battle against corruption. And this is true due to the numerous lawsuits the commission has filed against these officials.
As a way of improving their system, the website of the commission contains a comprehensive list of wanted individuals. Again, it is a smarter strategy.
