Scholarship Benefit
Interns will be given a stipend for living costs but are in charge of the expense related to their travel expenses to/from Washington, DC, in addition to providing proof of health policy through the length of the internship.
For non-US citizens, the IDB provides assistance to acquire a G 4 Visa. The intern can obey specific requirements to acquire the g 4 Visa.

Scholarship Number
The number of offers in the IDB Summer Internship Program 2024 is 40. Its selection criteria are strictly based on merit and fulfillment of the eligible criteria.
Eligibility for Scholarship
Eligibility for IDB Summer Internship Program 2024 is considered according to the intern categories;
Junior Summer Intern
- A current third-year undergraduate student, or beyond, working towards a Bachelor’s degree or Licenciatura in an accredited university.
- Must have graduated by August 15th.
- Proficient in at least one of the IDB’s official languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French), preferably with a working knowledge of a second one.
- Under 25 years of age as of January 1st.
- Individuals who self-identify as Indigenous or Afro-descendants from IDB member countries must be under 27 as of January 1st, 2024.
Regular Summer Intern
- A student working towards a Master’s or Doctorate in an accredited university.
- Must have graduated by August 15th.
- Proficient in at least one of the IDB’s official languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French), preferably with a working knowledge of a second one.
- Under 31 years of age as of January 1st, 2024.
- Individuals who self-identify as Indigenous or Afro-descendants from IDB member countries must be under 33 as of January 1st, 2024.
Other Eligibility Criteria Include:
- Only citizens of one of the 48 member countries are eligible to apply.
- Candidates hired in the past under any other employment modality of the IDB do not qualify.
- Applicants with family members or close relatives working at the IDB are not eligible. This restriction applies to candidates within and including the 4th degree of consanguinity and the 2nd degree of affinity.
