Level & Field of Study

  • Be a resident of Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
  • Possess a minimum of two or three years’ work experience vital to your proposed programme(s) of study (internships are valid).
  • Possess a bachelor’s level academic qualification from an accredited and government-recognised higher education institution
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale) – i.e. a first-class honour, or second class honour, Grade 1 (in some cases a second class honour Grade 2 may be accepted if the applicant has sufficient directly relevant work experience).
  • Never hold a qualification, nor be starting any other programme in the academic year 2024, at master’s level or higher.
  • Be applying to start a new programme at the master’s level in Ireland no sooner than August 2024.
  • Clearly demonstrate leadership abilities and aspirations, as well as a commitment to the achievement of the SDGs within your own country.
  • Must identify and select three relevant programmes from the Directory of Eligible Programmes.
  • Have a clear understanding of the academic and English language proficiencies required for all programmes chosen.
  • Must not have applied to the Ireland Fellows Programme on more than one previous occasion.
  • Be in a position to take up the Fellowship in the academic year 2024.

Application Process For the Ireland Fellows Programme -Africa Scholarship

To apply for this scholarship program, you must complete at least three stages of the application process. These three stages are;

Stage 1: Preliminary Application

At this stage, the selection panel will review your application. They will assess your qualifications against the requirements to gauge your credibility.

This process will close on September 13. Hence, if you don’t hear from them till that date, you probably didn’t pull through.

Stage 2: Detailed Application

This stage is the sequel to the preliminary stage. At this stage, you get an invitation to complete a detailed application form and submit all required documents.

Stage 3: Tests & Interviews

After you have completed the second stage. You will sit for English tests such as Duolingo and the popular IELTS. You have to now sit for an interview before you can get the scholarship.
