About Rotary Peace Fellowship Program

Through academic training, practice, and global networking opportunities, the Rotary Peace Centers program develops leaders who become catalysts for peace and conflict prevention and resolution.

These fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field-study expenses.

In just over a decade, the Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 1,000 fellows for careers in peacebuilding. Many of them are serving as leaders at international organizations or have started their own foundations.

Level:

The Rotary Peace Fellowship program is an international Fellowship intended to train young professionals on leadership.

Field:

The Rotary Peace Fellowship will concentrate more on Leadership. 

Benefits:

Each year, the Rotary Foundation awards up to 50 fellowships for master’s degrees and 50 for certificate studies at premier universities around the world.

  • Master’s degree programs: Last 15 to 24 months and require a practical internship of two to three months during the academic break.
  • Professional development certificate program: For experienced professionals and lasts three months with two to three weeks of field study.

Requirements:

Rotary Peace fellowship applicants must meet these requirements:

  • Proficiency in English; a second language is strongly recommended
  • Demonstrated commitment to international understanding and peace
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Master’s degree applicants: minimum of three years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, bachelor’s degree
  • Certificate applicants: minimum of five years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, strong academic background

How to Apply for Rotary World Peace Fellowships

  1. Review the application guidelines and check the eligibility requirements and restrictions below before applying. Read the entire application before you begin.
  2. Thoroughly research the curriculum and programs at each of the Rotary Peace Centers before starting your online application.
  3. Master’s degree applicants: Collect all academic transcripts, test scores, and any other documents required by preferred universities as noted on the fellowship application. All supplementary materials must be in English. Certificate applicants don’t need Academic transcripts or scores.
  4. Inform your local Rotary district that you are applying for a peace fellowship, and request an interview. You will need District endorsement to complete the application process. TIP: Your local Rotary club can help you connect with your district. Use Club Finder to locate the club nearest you.
  5. Prior to interviews, fill out the online application, attach the required supplementary materials (test scores, academic or professional recommendations, essays), and submit them to your Rotary district no later than 31 May.
  6. Complete an interview with district representatives. Districts must submit endorsed applications to The Rotary Foundation by 1 July.
  7. Receive notice of selection results in November. If you are chosen for a fellowship, you will receive the name of the Peace Center where you will study.
  8. Apply for admission to the university where you will study. Being chosen for a fellowship does not mean you have been admitted to the university.
