Host Nationality
The short-Term Internship Programme is hosted by CERN. The internship can be completed in Switzerland. The duration of the internship is a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 6 months.

Short-Term Internship Programme Worth
CERN Summer Internship Student Program is a Fully Funded & paid internship in Geneva Switzerland. In return, CERN will provide you with the following in the Internship in Summer.

Number of Short-Term Internship Programme awards:
CERN offers a limited number of Short-Term Internship Programmes for students. The appointment lasts at least one month and a maximum of six months over a period of twelve months.
Eligibility for CERN Short-Term Internship Programme 2022
To apply for Short-Term Internship Programme in Switzerland, the student must:
- You are a full-time student at the undergraduate (post-secondary) level and are at least 18 years of age. Please note that candidates who are currently studying for a PhD are not eligible for this program.
- Your main field of study is in one of the following areas: applied physics, computing, mathematics, electricity, electronics, mechanical or civil engineering, instrumentation, materials science, radiation protection, safety and environmental protection, surveying, ultra-high vacuum, scientific communication. A very limited number of places may be available in administrative fields such as translation, advanced secretarial work, accounting, legal services, human resources, librarianship, logistics.
- Your work at CERN must be an obligatory or recommended part of your studies.
- You will be returning to your educational establishment after the completion of your stay at CERN.
- You have a good knowledge of English and/or French.
