History

Extensive research tells that its beliefs started as early as before World War II and its divisions were formed by members serving in Australia during the war, who took on the responsibility of spreading the word about the institute.

It is believed that the conversations held during the symposium of 1960 Glasgow, led to the establishment of the International Union of Food Science and Technology and this body counts IFT, as one of its adhering bodies.

IFT leads nationally in Animal Health Business and plays a major role in the health business of consumers. The institute collaborates with several multinational bodies in the food science industry to offer solutions that bridge the gap. This is to say, in using their amazing products and solutions, the vital needs of people globally, in terms of food and healthy living are met.

In 1989, IFT was created and consolidated in the area of broilers’ breeds, importation, marketing, and backing up of poultry species that are the best, technically. This first phase formed an outstanding rapport between the institute and the product consumers.

The institute broadened its scope in 1994 when it began an operation for Animal health by partnering with originators that lead globally to make the Egyptian market richer with very refined products and solutions. And, in 2006, they began consumer health which is an affiliate in Allied Company.

For the first time in the business of Animal health, IFT employed an approach of business units in 2007 and this led to the growth in sales made and expansion in regions began in 2008 when IFT Gulf was established and IFT Iraq followed in 2009.

IFT Aspirations

The institute envisions to be leaders in Animal health in the Middle East and to play a major role in the health of consumers while using their innovations to solve traditional problems in their partnership with pioneer partnering bodies.

About the IFT Scholarship

The foundation awards almost seventy (70) scholarships to freshmen, undergraduates, graduates, and interns seeking to bag degrees in varying sciences related to food. The foundation partner with the IFT division to support and reward the academic excellence and achievements of students in the food science industry.

IFT avails people with various opportunities to grow and become better, either as an individual, a professional or as a leader.

And, the support of the foundation is a lifetime and transgenerational investment in a pool of talents to ensure that a better, stronger science based on evidence is happening in the food science industry and at the same time, raise people who can effectively and efficiently handle communication about food science and the roles it plays in our daily lives.

The intern program is created to join IFT student members to various professional bodies that would further broaden their knowledge about the science of food.

The intern program was designed to ensure students do not waste away or stay home doing nothing during internships but get busy which when they are doing so, they are gearing towards personal development and enlightenment and at the same time, leveraging on teamwork to enable sustainable growth and development of both the IFT and the company or firm training them.
