Sacred Heart University: Admission, Tuition, Ranking, Scholarships.

Sacred Heart University is a private Catholic university in Fairfield, Connecticut. The Most Reverend Walter W. Curtis, Bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport, Connecticut, found the institution in 1963.

The school was the first Catholic university in the United States of America whose main staff was the lay priest, and the second-largest Catholic university in New England.

If you’ve ever wanted to attend the school, or want to send your ward there, it’s important you carry out basic research.

And this is why this article is important. As it reviews the Sacred Heart University school as well as its admission processes and available scholarships.

Let’s get started.

Sacred Heart University: Admission

The admission rate for Sacred Heart University is pretty high compared to other universities in Connecticut. This means that for every 100 applicants, 61 are admitted.

The university expects you to meet their requirements for GPA and SAT/ACT scores, but they’re more flexible than other schools.

If you exceed the school’s requirements, then they may likely consider you for admission. But if you don’t, you’d most likely be rejected.

What is Sacred Heart University GPA Requirements?

The average GPA at Sacred Heart University is 3.51.(Most schools use a weighted GPA out of 4.0, though some report an unweighted GPA.)

With a GPA of 3.51, the school requires you to be around average in your high school class. You’ll need a mix of A’s and B’s, and very few C’s. If you have a lower GPA, you can compensate with harder courses like AP or IB classes. This will help boost your weighted GPA and show your ability to take college classes.

If you’re currently junior or senior, your GPA is hard to change in time for college applications. If your GPA is at or below the school average of 3.51, you’ll need a higher SAT or ACT score to compensate. This will help you compete effectively against other applicants who have higher GPAs than you.

Sacred Heart University: SAT and ACT Requirements

The truth is that most students still take the SAT or ACT, and most applicants to Sacred Heart University will submit their scores.

If you don’t submit scores, you’ll have one fewer dimension to show that you’re worthy of being admitted, compared to other students. It is therefore recommended that you consider taking the SAT or ACT and doing well.

Sacred Heart University has the Score Choice policy of “All Scores.” This means that Sacred Heart University requires you to send all SAT scores you’ve ever taken to their office.

Some students are still worried about submitting too many test scores. They’re afraid that Sacred Heart University will look down on too many attempts to raise your score. But how many is too many?

SAT/ACT Writing Section Requirements

Both the SAT and ACT have an optional essay section.

Sacred Heart University considers the SAT Essay/ACT Writing section optional and may not include it as part of their admissions consideration.

The institution is moderately selective, strong academic performance will almost guarantee you admission. Scoring a 1240 SAT or a 27 ACT or above will nearly guarantee you admission.

SHU admits 60.5% of all applicants, being far above average raises the admission rate for you to nearly 100%. If you can achieve a high SAT/ACT score, the rest of your application essentially doesn’t matter.

You still need to meet the rest of the application requirements, and your GPA shouldn’t be too far off from the school average of 3.51. But you won’t need dazzling extracurriculars and breathtaking letters of recommendation to get in. You can get in based on the merits of your score alone.

Those who seek additional involvement in Sacred Heart’s esports offerings may also join the ECAC club esports team.

The minor is open to any student regardless of major. This minor may also be an attractive option for club esports team members and those majoring in Game Design and Development.

Students in the esports program learn to lead as they explore the field from both business and communications perspectives, analyzing emerging technologies, and how they are utilized in the dynamic esports industry.
