Does a Full Scholarship pay for everything?
A scholarship that pays for everything, is called a full-ride scholarship. Such scholarships cover all expenses related to college from tuition, books, fees to room and board, and possibly living costs too.
What Colleges give the most scholarship money?
Some colleges that offer more student aid include;
Rank | College | Students receiving need-based aid |
---|---|---|
1 | Columbia University | 2,973 |
2 | Yale University | 2,732 |
3 | Williams College | 1,014 |
4 | Amherst College | 1,066 |
What happens if your scholarships exceed tuition?
Students often ask, “Do you get to keep excess scholarship money?” As exciting as the ideas sound, here’s the reality.
The excess amount of a general scholarship or grant aid in excess of the cost of tuition, fees, and books, is taxable.
Also, some specific scholarships or grants (e.g., health insurance grants) that are targeted at expenses other than tuition, fees, and books are subject to taxation too.
Thus, you will be required to pay tax on the excess grant left after tuition and other grant-purposes are paid off.
