KAIST was established by the Korean government, with the help of American policymakers, in 1971 as the nation’s first research-oriented science and engineering institution.

KAIST also has been internationally accredited in business education and hosting the Secretariat of AAPBS. KAIST has approximately 10,200 full-time students and 1,140 faculty researchers and had a total budget of US$765 million in 2013, of which US$459 million was from the research contract.

More About KAIST

All classes in Kaist are taught in English. This is a great advantage for international students who have been taught in English because most Korean students have not studied in English.

As an international student, you can focus on the same subject, while Korean students need to learn English and also focus on the subject.

Since all classes are taught in English, you are not pressured to learn Korean quickly. You can choose Korean gradually if you wish because you don’t have to learn it to understand your teachers. All English classes are one of the important reasons why you should apply for KAIST

KAIST Research Emphasis

KAIST has focused heavily on research projects that will benefit industries and the humanities. There are several research programs at KAIST, including HRHR (highrisk high return) that encourage creative research, URP (University Research Participation) that allows university students to look for qualified professors of KAIST and EEWS (Energy, Environment, Water, Sustainability ) Focusing on solving urgent needs in the areas of energy, environment, water and sustainability.

These programs are housed in many cutting-edge research facilities. KAIST Institute (KI) is the main research institution in Kaist and consist of KI for BioCentury, KI for IT Convergence, KI for Robotics, KI for Nanocentury, KI for Health Science and Technology, Saudi Aramco-KAIST CO2 Management Center and I-Space.

In addition to the KAIST Institute, KAIST research is conducted in NanoFab Center, the Satellite Technology Research Center, the Humanoid Robot Research Center, the Metabolic & Biomolecular Engineering National Research Laboratory, and other research facilities.
