About Tarleton State University
Sited just outside the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, Tarleton proffer programs including agriculture, medical technology, nursing, music, mathematical data mining, and teacher education programs.
It’s public school improvement programs are active in more than 50 area school districts. In the fall year 2012, the university enrolled over Ten thousand (10,000) students for the first time.
The John Agricultural College of Tarleton was established in the year 1899 with an endowment from settler John Tarleton. It became a member of the Texas A&M University System in the year 1917.
In the year 1949, it was renamed Tarleton State College; then, it became a four-year-degree-granting institution in the year 1959 and gained status as a university in the year 1973. In the year 2003, it began offering doctoral programs.
Tarleton serves as the educational & cultural flagship of the Cross Timbers Region. With a population of 17,000, it is included in Norman Crampton’s The 100 Best Small Towns in America published by Prentice Hall.
A new 70,000 square-foot (6,500 m2) sports recreation center, complete with weight rooms, track, and gym, opened in fall in the year 2007.
The two (2) story building holds four racquetball courts, a weight room, cardio equipment as well as multi-purpose rooms, classroom and office space.
The new facility is also a home to a climbing wall and an “outdoor pursuit” area, permitting students the opportunity to sign up for such outdoor items as kayaks, tents and camping equipment.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board newly approved an Associate of Applied Science degree and Advanced Technician Certificates for both Medical Laboratory Technology and Histotechnology for Tarleton.

The Sade Lowery Memorial Scholarship will be offered to full-time students majoring in Music Education. Recipients ought to also demonstrate financial need and be members in good standing with an instrumental assembly.

#2. AB Medlen Scholarship

The Ag. and Consumer Sciences Student Teacher Scholarship will be given to student teachers in Agriculture and Consumer Sciences with a 2.6-grade point average.

#4. Agricultural Services & Development Alumni Scholarship
The Agricultural Services & Development Alumni Scholarship will be given to a full-time student mainly in the area of agricultural services and development, seeking early certification through traditional coursework, demonstrating strong leadership ability and an expressed interest in teaching.
Partiality will be given to an active member of the Tarleton Collegiate FFA chapter. The committee will take into consideration financial need and academic achievement.

#4. Agriculture Career Development Endowed Scholarship
The Agriculture Career Development Scholarship was founded in the year 2004, to identify outstanding high school students, from around the state, who partakes in the annual judging contests.

The Agriculture Contest scholarship will be given to the top ranking high school seniors participating in state-level contests, including Dairy Foods, Pasture and Range, Forage estimation and Land Judging.

#6. Alex Price & Ruby Fambro Scholarship
The Alex Price & Ruby Fambro scholarship will be given to a student mostly in agriculture and participating in the rodeo.
For the agriculture section, the recipient must be mainly in an area of agriculture, must uphold at least a 3.0 GPA, and maintain their most important in the field of agriculture.
For the rodeo section, the recipient ought to satisfactorily participate as a member of the Tarleton Rodeo Association and retain at least a 2.50 GPA.

The Allen Cattle Management scholarship will be given to a student from Bosque County, mainly in animal production, cattle management or any associated field at Tarleton State University that graduated from high school with high academic standing.

The Alpha Gamma Delta Epsilon Upsilon Alumnae Endowed scholarship will be given to members of Alpha Gamma Delta in good standing who are full-time students.

The Alpha Phi Omega Alumni scholarship will be given to a full-time student in good standing with the university that is an active member of Xi Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega.

The American Association of University Women Rosellen Davis scholarship will be given to a female high school senior from Erath County, Texas, who plans to attend Tarleton State University as a full-time student.

The Ann Bulecza Petronis Nursing scholarship will be given to a deserving full-time student, seeking a degree in nursing, admitted into the Nursing Program and maintaining a 2.75 or higher grade point average.

#12. Annie Myrah Schuman Nursing Scholarship
The Annie Myrah Schuman Nursing scholarship will be given to a student in the Nursing Program at Tarleton State University without regard to age, sex, nationality or race.
The beneficiary must have a reasonable desire to serve their fellow man, and also must have successfully completed the first semester of the nursing curriculum and demonstrate financial need.

The Athletic Performance Internship scholarship will be offered to a student who has experience assisting in the field of collegiate strength and conditioning and has been granted admission into the Tarleton graduate program.

#18. Audie & Zera Floyd Educational Trust Scholarship
The Audie and Zera Floyd Educational Trust scholarship will be offered to students that graduated from or attended De Leon High School for at least one (1) year or those who are presently employed in the De Leon ISD.
Scholarships may be renewed for five years. There are no limitations based on student type or attending hours. Beneficiaries should be admitted to and/or in good standing at the University.

#19. James H. & Betty Tally Scholarship
The James H. & Betty Tally scholarship will be given to a graduate of any public high school in Taylor County, Texas, who has demonstrated a need for financial support in order to be able to follow his or her collegiate studies.
The beneficiary should also be a full-time student, exhibit a strong desire and commitment to pursue a college degree, have work experience and a record of vigorous participation in extra-curricular activities, if physically able to do so.

The Jay R. McDaniel Education scholarship will be offered to a deserving full-time junior, senior or graduate student, showing interest in teaching science or math.
