About the Scholarship Provider (NCLD)
NCLD was founded in 1977 by Carrie and Pete Rozelle as a base for children with learning disabilities. In 1989, the organization moved from a foundation to a non-profit organization, expanded its mission and scope, and changed its name to the National Center for Learning Disabilities. Anne Ford assumed the position of chairman of the board of directors and led the organization for 12 years.
Their mission then was to provide leadership, public awareness, and grants/awards solely to support research and innovative practices in the area of learning disabilities.
But now the Mission of (NCLD) the National Center for Learning Disabilities aims to improve the lives of every one-fifth adult in the country through learning and attention problems. Thereby strengthening parents and caregivers, and young adults by transforming schools and defending equal rights and opportunities.
From their research, they know that one in five people has learning and attention problems, including specific learning disabilities, such as dyslexia and/or attention problems such as ADHD.
Even though these people are as capable as their peers, but many have difficulties in school and beyond because they cannot get the support they need.
For this reason, they know that with the right support, they can prosper. NCLD works every day to make a significant change for people with learning and attention issues.
For more than 40 years, NCLD has worked to create a society in which each individual has the academic, social, and emotional skills necessary to succeed in school, at work, and in life.
Every day, NCLD continues to lead the field of innovation, research and promotion nationwide.
