Recipients who qualified must be accepted at either accredited in the state or out of state college. The recipient must maintain an overall GPA above 2.5.

The recipient must also submit a minister’s letter of recommendation, and pen down a five hundred 500-word essay about their God-given vocation.

2. Emma Kapp Ogburn Memorial Fund

This program is sponsored and funded by the Centenary United Methodist Church. The Emma Kapp Ogburn Memorial Fund has been organized under the Winston-Salem Foundation (WSF) since the year 1946 to honor the late wife of S.C. Ogburn.

Claiming this $1,000 non-renewable scholarship program will require one residing in North Carolina’s Forsyth County and also being devoted Methodist congregants. A candidate must be attending an accredited U.S. university and pursuing a major for Christian education or theology.

This scholarship program was established by the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (UUA) upon Rev. Pohl’s retirement as Unitarian Universalist Association Director of Ministry in the year 1993.

Disciples Leadership Program

Award Amount :$6,000

This competitive scholarship award program is awarded to first-time freshmen. This is based on leadership, academic excellence, and their commitment to exploring a life of faith-based servant leadership during their college.

The DLP recipients receive full tuition plus two (2) on-site mentorships ($6,000 total combined, travel-related expenses)and an exploring service anywhere in the world.

All DOC students who are convinced they have a call to ordained ministry are encouraged to come and apply, but all the qualified DOC students with exceptional leadership and service will be considered for the award also.

Any Applicants chosen as DLP recipients will demonstrate the capacity to earn and maintain a college GPA of at least 3.0. Recipients can decide to choose any minor course of study, but a religion/philosophy Major is required. On campus, residency is always required.

The Khyentse Foundation is a non-profit organization that specifically offers scholarships to Buddhist scholars. These KF Buddhist Study Scholarships are one time grants to support individuals who wish to study the Dharma. RetaHaarsma Scholarship

PSYCHOLOGY, THEOLOGY

Four (4)scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded on annual basis to a full-time student enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts degree program with a major/concentration in Theology or Psychology. To be considered eligible for the award, a  candidate must have an average of 80% or better on his or her high school entrance marks or better maintain a 3.30 GPA.

Selection criteria: The selection criteria may involve academic achievement and the recipient’s demonstrated Christian commitment. This prestigious scholarship program was established by RetaHaarsma, who operated The King’s University Bookstore from 1979 to 2004 (25 years).

Knoppers-Boon Scholarship

A $1,500 scholarship is made available for a returning female student who has intentions to continue her studies in the Christian theology and/or pastoral ministry. To be considered eligible, the candidate must maintain a 3.30 GPA.

The criteria for selecting the winner may include academic achievement, vocational intent and some level of demonstrated Christian commitment. This prestigious scholarship was established in the year 1992, to honour the couple, Nicholas and Bartha (Boon) Knoppers’ 50th wedding anniversary, and also  Rev. Knoppers’ 50th year anniversary in the ministry of the CRC.

Annual & Endowed Scholarships

 Description

The School of Theology and Ministry of the Seattle University offers annual endowed scholarships. This is through the great generosity of friends and donors who are concerned with or strongly believe in the mission and vision of the School and the level of value of education specifically at Seattle University’s School of Theology and Ministry.

The scholarship sponsor assigns some committee members who are vested with the responsibility to reviews applications every April and award the scholarships to candidates or students who were able to meet the scholarship criteria.

Scholarships will be normally entered into student accounts the last two (2) weeks of May with the scholarship award letters mailed out directly to the students in the third (3rd) week of May.

Out-of-State Scholarship

Description

The School of Theology and Ministry Seattle University offers this 70%, one (1)year, the scholarship program for newly admitted students that are just moving to Washington from out of state for the sole purpose of attending school.

This is because they recognize that students relocating from out of state may have some additional expenses. However, this scholarship award only applies to the first year of degree program admittance.

Following the first year, students are eligible to re-apply, but only for other scholarship options within the School of Theology and Ministry or other financial aid resources, as applicable.

Criteria

The Out of State Scholarship is only applicable for one (1) year and that’s the first-year which only for the newly admitted students in a graduate degree program that are relocating from another state domestically to the Washington state solely for Seattle University’s School of Theology and Ministry.

This scholarship award is not applicable to international students or students enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program or any professional certificate programs.

A minimum of six (6) credits is required per quarter, for the duration of the academic calendar year to which the scholarship is applied.

To Apply

To be able to apply for this prestigious scholarship award program, the candidate or applicant must complete a Criteria-Based Tuition Aid Grant Application  (CBTAA), together with a Declaration of Credits Form, and a FAFSA upon admittance.

A copy of the first page of the candidate’s previous years IRS 1040 tax form (indicating the candidate’s adjusted gross income and obliterating his or her social security numbers) and a narrative must be submitted together with the candidate’s  CBTAA.

United Church of Christ Brown Endowment

Description

This program is a Helen and Richard Brown Endowment for Pastoral Scholarships. It was derived from a generous gift received in the 1990s, designated solely to support pastoral ministry in the United Church of Christ (UCC).

Since the inception of this scholarship program, it has provided over $250,000 annually to UCC Conferences, seminaries, and global partners and further providing individual scholarships for seminarians and sponsorships for continuing education events.

Criteria

A candidate can be eligible when he or she is a dedicated member of the UCC and active in their local church, responding to a call into ministry.

A candidate may also be eligible to become a Brown Scholar If he or she is a leader in a regional ministry.

To Apply

For one to apply for a scholarship from the Endowment, the candidate must prepare a scholarship proposal that will briefly describe the event (the proposal WI have to address the questions listed here).

The proposal will be handed to the Brown Endowment Committee to be reviewed and considered. Any decision they make will be communicated back to the candidates shortly after the next decision cycle closes.

The closing dates for each of the three (3) annual cycles are January 1st, April 1st, and September 1st.
